Memories to treasure
The Science Sets Sail organisational team were thrilled to be presented with a thoughtful thank-you gift from Prof. Dr. Jouni Partanen from Aalto University in Finland. The additive-manufacturing specialist – invited to join SOAT team from FAU on the second leg of the voyage – created several replicas of the Thor Heyerdahl in transparent plastic as part of his preparations to join the trip.
FAU’s Marketing and Communication Director, Blandina Mangelkramer loved the souvenir: “What a fabulous gift and considerate gesture. It perfectly symbolises the innovative way all the teams are approaching this valuable time together on the Thor Heyerdahl, and the unforeseen opportunities to combine skills and knowledge across national and faculty boundaries. I’ll treasure my replica of the Thor Heyerdahl – and my memories aboard the ship – forever,” said Bandina.
