Come to our Open Ship Day!
This summer, a sailing ship full of international scientists will bring a mini science fair to five ports on the Baltic. We hope we’ll see you at one of our Science Sets Sail ‘Open Ship Days’!
Every two years, Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) takes a leading role in what has become Germany’s largest science festival. The eighth ‘Long Night of Sciences’ will be held in the neighbouring cities of Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen on 21 October 2017. FAU departments and institutes will again present fascinating current topics from the world of science, research and technology.
Sailing into a port near you
So, when we designed Science Sets Sail we wanted to use it as an opportunity to share our passion for science, technology, and international research, and so will be bring along a preview of a few of our more portable exhibits from the upcoming Long Night of Sciences festival – clearly on a much smaller scale to fit in our restricted luggage space onboard!
Who should come along? We look forward to meeting with the representatives of local regional, town, business and academic representatives, not to mention members of the general public looking for a fun and diverting day out. We hope that we’ll attract a few future young researchers in the process …
We look forward to welcoming visitors to our FAU-branded pavilion/s – or even onboard the Thor Heyerdahl for a look around this majestic three-masted topsail schooner – in the following ports between 10:00–16:00:
- Malmö, Sweden : 18 July 2017
- Riga, Latvia : 24 July 2017
- Helsinki, Finland : 29 July 2017
- Tallinn, Estonia : 1 August 2017
- Danzig, Poland : 7 August 2017 – cancelled
Look out in your local press for details, plus we’ll be adding planned events at: http://science-sets-sail.fau.eu/events/
